The Basic English Language course (BEL) covers the 4 skill areas of:
- Speaking
- Listening
- Reading
- Writing
By the end of BEL Level 3 the pupils should feel confident to begin the Grade 7 curriculum. The pupils will know:
- The letter sounds
- The letter names
- Alphabetical order
- Numbers
- Many song and poems
- How to ask and answer questions
- How to read words from the letter sounds
- How to read words by whole word recognition
- How to write lower and upper case letters
- How to read and write short paragraphs
- How to participate in simple role plays
