Basic English Language Level 1 Teachers Manual

The Basic English Language course (BEL) covers the 4 skill areas of:

• Speaking
• Listening
• Reading
• Writing

By the end of BEL Level 3 the pupils should feel confident to begin the Grade 7 curriculum.  The pupils will know:

• The letter sounds
• The letter names
• Alphabetical order
• Numbers
• Many song and poems
• How to ask and answer questions
• How to read words from the letter sounds
• How to read words by whole word recognition
• How to write lower and upper case letters
• How to read and write short paragraphs
• How to participate in simple role plays

Bell has pupil books and teacher manuals that use step by step, child friendly, methods for teaching and learning English. The books are divided into chapters and each chapter is divvied into units.
